GAZA DIARY
A NOVEL BY SHAHAB KHAN

A LETTER FROM THE AUTHOR

“Some stories are written to be read.
Others are written because they must be remembered.”

Dear Friends,

If this story has reached you, then I feel that my words have completed their journey. Gaza Diary is not just a book. It is a collection of countless wounds, pains and hopes that continue to take shape every day on the land of Palestine.

In these pages you will meet Mariam, Ahmad, Sana, and also the stories of many innocent children whose laughter, cries and unspoken dreams echo in every corner of this land.

In the streets of Gaza, where every turn carries the echo of history, the innocence of children and their untold stories remind us that no matter how cruel a war may be, sparks of hope always remain.

These children, whether playing by the roadside or holding on to their dreams in relief camps, are an inspiration for all of us. Despite the pain on their faces, there is a unique light in them that tells us that even in the struggle for life, there is always space in the heart for love and courage.

This story is more than a collection of words. It is a voice against the injustice, oppression and immense human suffering that continues in Palestine. It comes from the depths of my heart, for those innocent children who are paying the price for a reality they did not create.

When I remember those innocent faces, whose laughter has been stolen by bombs, my heart breaks.

I wrote this story to bring to light the truths that are often ignored. I especially want to remember Hind Rajab, an innocent little girl whose death shook all of us.

Her memory reminds us that whenever humanity is attacked, we must raise our voices.

Amidst these painful circumstances, I request you to not only read these stories, but to feel them. Let us raise our voices for those innocents whose sacrifices must never be forgotten.

Your voice, your actions and your support can help create a new hope for justice and freedom for these children.

Feel every pain, every sigh hidden in these pages. Share your solidarity and compassion for the people of Palestine.

Your voice can be a light for those innocent hearts that are surrounded by darkness.

These pages hold not only pain, but also a message. Even in struggle, and even in despair, the light of dreams remains alive.

The soil of Palestine, the broken walls of Gaza and the helpless smiles of its children together form a voice that tells the world that there are no limits to the courage of children.

I request you not to let these stories remain confined to a book. If this book has touched your heart, share it with others.

Share it with a child who may have lost hope, or with a friend who is searching for courage in their own grief.

Share your thoughts on social media, start conversations and help these stories reach every child and adult.

Most importantly, do not remain silent. Wherever you are, and whatever field you work in, continue to raise your voice for the freedom of Palestine.

Stand with those around the world who are speaking out through rallies, articles, art and social media to expose propaganda and support the truth.

Your thoughts and suggestions are invaluable to me:

  • Did Mariam’s diary connect you with a sweet or painful memory from your own childhood?
  • Which moment affected you the most, the innocent smiles of Gaza’s children or the harsh reality of Palestine’s struggle?
  • If you were in Mariam’s place, how would you bring a ray of hope into that darkness?

Your responses, questions and even your criticism are a source of inspiration for me. Write to me by email or on social media. Your voice will assure me that this journey, these stories, have not remained unfinished.

One more request: if this book has touched your heart, please consider writing a review, whether on an online platform or on your own blog.

Even a single line from you can help this story reach someone who needs it.

And finally, always remember: never stop dreaming.

As long as there are dreams within us, war, hatred and violence cannot take away our light.

This story belongs to the children of Gaza and Palestine, who continue to prove every day that even after the darkest moments, the sun of hope can rise again.

Your friend,
